DJ SAID LIQUIDATOR - ICA with Spearmint and Junipers
30 September 2009 (photo by Rani McKay)
As DJ Said Liquidator, I stepped out of retirement to play a set at the ICA for Spearmint's 10 year celebration of their debut album (proper), 'A Week Away'. I regularly did London shows with the band in the late 90s. It was great to see them again doing such gems as 'Sweeping the Nation', 'A Week Away' and 'We're Going Out' with as much zest and panache as ever.

If the band were doing a set to mark ten years then I was going to go back further and concentrate on the year 1979 when post punk bands and new music ruled (ruled my world at least). Perhaps I had picked up on something in the air as the most popular "Woz-at!?" songs that I played were all from that year: Flys - Name Dropping, Holly & The Italians - Tell That Girl to Shut Up and Delta 5 - Mind Your Own Business.

It was a pleasure to be back. I hope to get more work through Sean who promoted last night's gig. If you'd like your gig, party or club night go with a "Woz-at!?", just drop me an email via the contact form on this site click here.
